Special Products Al-Fer
Al-Fer is at the customer’s service for the production of special connectors that are used, for example, in double warp slabs or in special cases, such as those listed below.
Intervention example
This construction site is one of the many hit by the 2012 earthquake in Emilia which made some of the historic buildings of monumental interest unusable. In the structural reinforcement necessary for the renovation of these buildings, the AL-FER self-tapping dry connector for mixed steel-concrete systems is widely used.
Below we can see some installation images of the AL-FER connector for Steel on an existing floor made of IPE steel profiles and large blocks with polystyrene filling and collaborating concrete hood. In this situation, the AC1 connector with a height of 40 mm and M12 self-tapping thread was used. The existing steel beams were drilled with a drill and a Ø 11 mm bit according to the pitch defined by the construction management. The connector was screwed with a simple impact wrench with a minimum power of 280 Nm. Before casting the collaborating concrete slab, a metal mesh with a diameter of 6 mm and a 20×20 cm mesh was laid.
Perforated Head for Lateral Suspension
If it is necessary to reinforce a floor that cannot be propped up on the intrados, Al-fer dry connectors DRILLED IN THE HEAD are used to safely tie the steel beams from above. Thanks to the high mechanical strength and the yield strength of the connectors, it is possible to consolidate steel-concrete floors with suspension to the side walls. Just drill a 4/5 mm diameter hole at the head of the connector for fastening a common construction site steel cable (3/4 mm thick) and fasten a second connector to the masonry. The steel cables will be removed once the concrete slab has matured. The images below show an example of a steel floor with corrugated sheet metal and tie rods to the side walls with perforated connectors on the head.
